Board of Directors

Glanbrook Community Services Board of Directors are an engaged group of community-minded volunteers. They come from diverse professional backgrounds, and bring expertise in law, human resources, public health, fundraising, community services, and advocacy—to name just a few. Glanbrook Community Services is currently overseen by 13 active and involved volunteer Board members.

Sara 3

Sara Parker (She/Her), Chair

Sara Parker is an enthusiastic and dedicated Recreation Programmer, hospitality management professional with great passion for her community. Parker has varied experiences with customer service, team & partner development, health & safety education, community engagement, employee training, payroll & scheduling, recruitment & hiring, meeting & exceeding sales targets. She truly enjoy creating a positive healthy work environment for all staff to thrive in and excel. A Happy team provides excellent service and consistent experiences for our valued guests.

Kevin

Kevin Keyte (He/Him), Vice Chair

Kevin Keyte is a retired police officer who goes above and beyond in his volunteer work with Glanbrook Community Services. In addition to serving on the board, Kevin delivers hot and frozen Meals on Wheels weekly, ensuring local seniors receive their meals with care. His compassion also extends to his love for animals, as he dedicates his time to caring for rescued dogs.

Kevin is a Hockey Executive for a team in the Regional Non-contact Hockey League (RNHL) and serves on the board for Orchard Court, a low-income retirement home for older adults. A true community leader, Kevin is always giving back and taking care of others. His dedication and kindness make him a valued asset to the community.

Larry

Gordon Hornsveld (He/Him), Treasurer

Gordon Hornsveld (CPA CA) was the Controller of McKellar Structured Settlements Inc. for 27 years until his retirement in 2023, previously with Coopers & Lybrand (now PWC) for 15 years. Gord is currently the Treasurer of GCS. Gord was introduced to Glanbrook Community Services Board by fellow board member David Broom. Gord and his wife Glenda have six children, five of whom are married.  They also have three grandchildren.

Retirement does not mean that life has slowed down any!

Wendy

Wendy Tompkins (She/Her), Secretary and Past Chair

Wendy is an Investment Advisor & Financial Planner with Jokel Tompkins Private Wealth of RBC Dominion Securities.

With more than three decades of experience in the financial services industry, including working as a Financial Planner in the RBC Ancaster branch prior to joining RBC Wealth Management in 2013 Wendy is committed to continually building her expertise and providing you with the most current and effective ways to reach your goals. In keeping with this commitment, Wendy has earned the professional designation of Personal Financial Planner (PFP).

In addition to providing concierge level client services, designed to help you reach your financial potential Wendy is also passionate about serving her community. Some of the organizations she volunteers with include the Glanbook Community Services; The Dr Bob Kemp Hospice; United Way, MS Society and McMaster Children’s Hospital. When she is not in the office, Wendy enjoys spending time with her husband Shaun and their son Taylor playing golf and spending time at their trailer in Southampton . Wendy is also an avid “scrap booker”, loves arts and crafts and enjoys making personalized greeting cards.

Dave B.

Dave Broom (He/Him) - Past Vice Chair

David Broom, a former police officer, has been a dedicated member of the Glanbrook Community Services Board since 2019 and currently served as the 2023-2024 Vice Chair and Acting Chair. His contributions have significantly enriched the social, cultural, and civic life of the Hamilton community. David has committed himself to these efforts selflessly, without seeking personal or financial gain. His dedication reflects a genuine passion for improving the lives of others.

Terrie

Terrie Louie (She/Her)

Terrie Louie retired in 2017 after a 45-year career in the financial industry, including roles as a Floor Trader at the Toronto Stock Exchange and an Investment Representative in customer service. With 25 years of service in the Royal Canadian Legion Colour Party, Terrie approached Glanbrook Community Services to continue applying her extensive knowledge of investments and governance. Passionate about giving back, she is committed to supporting this dedicated organization and the wonderful town it serves. Terrie also has a deep love for animals and previously volunteered with Hamilton Animal Services.

Dave C.

Dave Calvert (He/Him)

Dave Calvert is a retired member of the Hamilton Police Service, having served the community for over 30 years.  He progressively advanced through the ranks and upon his retirement in 2017, he was the Superintendent for the Hamilton Mountain station.

During his career, Dave was assigned to multiple areas of the Service including Vice and Drugs, Child Abuse Branch , Marine Unit, provincial Proceeds of Crime Unit, Support Services Division, numerous patrol divisions, and as instructor at the Ontario Police College and Canadian Police College. He was also a member of the City of Hamilton Emergency Management Team.

Dave received his education at Niagara College, McMaster University, Toronto University (Rotman’s School of Business) and has various certificates and diplomas in Management and Leadership.

Dave is excited to have been selected as a member of the board and looks forward to contributing his skills, talents and energy to assisting Glanbrook Community Services in achieving its objective in improving the services and well being of the citizens of our community.

Tom

Tom Brash (He/Him)

Tom Brash is a former Owner of two Hamilton Giant Tiger stores with 38 years of retail experience.  He was involved in all aspects of store operation including buying, budgeting, human resources, sales and service.

Tom decided to join the Glanbrook Community Services Board as a way to keep his mind busy and was excited to be able to assist a team in giving back to his community.  Tom is looking forward to helping the Board in the area of Governance.

Tom loves ‘trying’ to have a good sense of humour!

Heather

Heather Jones (She/Her)

Heather Jones, a dedicated Registered Nurse for 40 years, has always been passionate about serving others. Throughout her nursing career, she demonstrated an unwavering commitment to patient care and the well-being of her community. Since her retirement, Heather has continued her legacy of service by actively volunteering in several areas with Glanbrook Community Services (GCS).

Her passion for community involvement and a desire to give back drew her to the GCS Board. She finds great fulfillment in helping to create programs and initiatives that support the needs of the Glanbrook community.
